Waste Works – Rubbish or Resource Workshop Programme
Waste Works
In 2011 a report by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Plan) identified that the Hospitality Industry sends 1.5million tonnes of waste to landfill per year and that “the UK hospitality sector could save £724 million per year by tackling food waste’.
Waste Works is designed to challenge your attitudes to waste.
At the show Waste Works will host a series of FREE Presentations and Workshops designed to help equip you to start reducing waste and saving money. Sessions include:
- Green Foundation who are part of the Eden Project famous for making sustainability fun and interesting
- Training taster sessions from the Responsible Hospitality Partnership demonstrating how to motivate your staff to help you in waste reduction / money saving ambitions
- WRAP who will present some case studies on how to reduce waste
A display of the life cycle of waste – what was the original product – what happens to if it doesn’t go to landfill and what it could become.
There are also some quirky ideas and displays such as a shopping trolley chair and wash drum coffee table, not to mention ‘fat birds’ – don’t block your drains by tipping used fat into them – check out ‘fat birds’ instead.
