|SWR Approved in Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment to support Zero Waste Ambitions|
Specialist Waste Recycling (SWR) has signed up to Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment, a Scottish Government backed initiative which is designed to set consistent standards for business waste collections and to help deliver the country’s zero waste targets.
In being certified under the requirements of the Commitment, SWR has been able to demonstrate that it can and will, in support of the initiative, do the following:
· Provide customers with high-quality recycling services, which are supported by clear communications, and are consistent with legal requirements and good practice.
· Implement systems for gaining customer feedback and ensuring continuous improvement.
· Ensure contracts and charging structures are clear, reasonable and well managed.
The Commitment has been developed by Zero Waste Scotland in collaboration with the resource management industry and small business representatives. It has the support of key trade bodies including the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM), Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Scotland, Scottish Environmental Services Association (SESA), Community Resources Network Scotland (CRNS), and the Resource Association.
Iain Gulland, Director, Zero Waste Scotland said: “I’m delighted to see organisations leading the way in signing up to this commitment, and I hope to see many more follow suit in the near future.
“The new Waste (Scotland) Regulations which come into play next year will drive a change in the way Scotland manages its resources, and this commitment will play an important part in working towards that change.”
Commenting on SWR’s certification, Stephen Cameron of SWR said “The Scottish Resource Sector Commitment defines a new era for the traditional waste management company. What was once considered waste is now recognised as having real value, and when managed effectively can bring benefits to the economy as a whole. SWR is committed to delivering effective resource management solutions to its customers and is delighted to be part of the Zero Waste Scotland plan”
